How To Prevent Sunburns
What is a sunburn?
A sunburn is a painful, red, itchy skin disease caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. It is a bump or reddish patch occurring on the skin that has been caused by excess exposure to the sun. It can cause pain, blisters, and skin irritation. Sunburns are a common and dangerous skin condition that can develop quickly, especially on sensitive areas such as the face, neck, shoulders, and arms. Proper sun protection is the best way for them.
Did you know that sunburns can lead to skin cancer?
When the skin is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, it can burn and damage the skin, and this can lead to skin cancer. While people may think that skin cancer due to UV rays is rare, it can still happen which can reduce your life expectancy, cost you a lot of money, and highly affect your lifestyle. You may have to go through radiotherapy (check out treatments like gamma knife radiosurgery for more information), chemotherapy, as well as a lot of other treatments. So, the best way to avoid skin cancer is to stay out of the sun when the UV rays are high. On a simpler note, stay out of the sun between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
There are a number of things you can do to prevent sunburn.
- First, you should try to avoid the sun or go out in the early morning or in the late evening when the sun is low in the sky.
You don’t have to be a beach bunny to burn. In fact, even with the lowest level of sun exposure, you can still get sunburned. The key is to avoid direct sunlight and stay out of the sun during the peak hours when the sun is the most intense, between 8 am and 3 pm. Exposure to sunlight causes the skin to produce a hormone called erythropoietin (EPO). This hormone creates the redness and discoloration of your skin after you’re exposed to the sun. Once the EPO is produced, it causes the body to release more iron into the blood vessels. This increase in iron causes the body to generate more heat.
- If you do need to spend time in the sun, you should wear protective clothing such as a hat, a long-sleeve shirt, and sunglasses.
For additional protection, it is advisable to cover the body with sun protection clothing as it can prevent the harmful UV rays from harming you. You should use this added protection because even if you don’t get sunburned, the rays can still damage your body. The body takes a long time to recover from a single exposure to the sun’s rays, so it’s best to be safe and wear sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses (similar to these Oakley sunglasses) when you’re out in the sun.
- You should also stay out of the sun for 1-2 hours after you have been in the sun.
The sun is the most popular source of heat and light in the world, and it can also turn a healthy body into a premature blister. To prevent this, it is important to stay out of the sun for one-two hours after you have been in the sun. While it is natural for the body to develop redness and soreness in the first few hours after sun exposure, sunburns and later skin cancer can be prevented when the skin is protected from the sun by staying out of the rays for a short amount of time.
- Wear sunscreen.
Despite the controversial nature of sunscreen, it’s one of the most important pieces of summer clothing. Sunscreen is good for your skin, and it reduces your risk of developing skin rashes, inflammation, and premature skin aging. Moreover, with issues like aging and severe wrinkles, you may have to increase efforts to slow down the process. While there can be various cosmetic treatments available by companies similar to 8 West, it can be better to take the necessary precautions from your end.
If you have a sunburn, you have three options:
- Do nothing about it.
- Take a pain-relieving medicine to reduce the pain.
If you’re like me, you’re an avid outdoorsman who enjoys a good day of fishing, hiking, or camping. But, all of these activities have one thing in common: lots of sun exposure. Although it’s normal to get a mild burn from time to time, you’re not likely to get a severe burn if you stay safe. However, you may want to take a pain-relieving medication to help reduce the pain if you do get a mild burn. - Take an over-the-counter medication called hydrocortisone.
The best days of summer are almost over, and it’s time to start thinking about what you can do to help prevent sunburn. Hydrocortisone cream is a form of over-the-counter medication that is applied to the skin to prevent sunburn. It is available in stores such as supermarkets and pharmacies and can be used as part of a sun protection regimen.
It’s a fact of life – many of us get stressed out, and angry, and spend time outdoors, especially in the summer. That said, it is essential that you take care of your skin and prevent it from getting exposed to harmful UV rays. This can be a basic rule to prevent sunburns.
